Las Vegas Pool Party and Dayclub Dress Code Guide

Pool party dress codes are simpler than nightclub dress codes, but people still get turned away at the gate for avoidable reasons. Here is what works at every major Las Vegas dayclub, and the handful of things that do not.

The simple rule

Dayclubs want resort and swim wear. If you look ready for a stylish pool, you are dressed correctly. The mistakes happen when people show up in street clothes, bring the wrong bag, or wear something the venue specifically bans.

For women

  • Swimwear, cover-ups, sundresses, rompers and resort wear all work.
  • Most venues do not allow thong-style bottoms, so check the specific club if that matters to you.
  • Bring a small bag. Many pools limit bag size, so a clutch or small crossbody is safer than a tote.

For men

  • Swim trunks or board shorts and a tank or short-sleeve shirt are the standard.
  • Avoid long pants, jeans, and full street outfits. You want to look pool-ready.
  • Closed shoes or sandals are both fine. Bring something you do not mind getting wet.
The fast track: read the venue's own posted dress code before the day. Rules on bag size, thong bottoms and outside items vary by pool, and your host can confirm the current rules for your venue.

What gets you turned away

  • Street clothes that read more nightclub than pool.
  • Oversized bags, coolers, outside food and drink, and glass of any kind.
  • Professional cameras and selfie sticks at some venues.
  • Anything that violates the venue's posted rules, which staff enforce at the gate.

What to actually bring

Sunscreen, a hat, sunglasses, a portable charger, cash for tips and a valid government photo ID. Every major dayclub is twenty-one and over, and they card at the door, so the ID is not optional. A daybed or cabana gives you shade and a place to keep your things, which makes a long day in the sun far more comfortable.

Lock in your spot first

The best daybeds and cabanas sell out early on big weekends. A Velvet Rope host reserves the spot that fits your group, confirms the current dress code for that venue and gets your names on the list. Browse the pool parties or message a host to plan your day.
